Making a Green Move
South Florida based developer, Global Group Investment, is transforming Gateway Professional Campus into their first LEED pre-certified building. The US Green Building Council (USGBC) considers that LEED-certified buildings will:

- Lower operating costs and increased asset value.
- Reduce waste sent to landfills.
- Conserve energy and water.
- Healthier and safer for occupants.
- Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
- Qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances and other incentives in hundreds
of cities.
- Demonstrate an owner's commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

2007
USGBC developed a point system where new commercials constructions can qualify for certification. Points are awarded through green principles per category such as facilitating Alternative Transportation, Water Efficiency, Optimize Energy Performance, Materials and Resources used, and Indoor Environmental Quality.
The Developer will be using green building principles to meet the standards established by the USGBC’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program.
